In May 2008, J. Rainer Lafin of Lörrach, Germany, partnered with Brannen Brothers to produce authentic Lafin Headjoints—not Lafin-style or Brannen-Lafin models, but true Lafin Headjoints made to his exacting professional standards. Mr. Lafin personally trained Brannen’s headjoint makers to ensure his design integrity.
There is one distinct Lafin Headjoint model, which features the Adler Wings for enhanced tonal flexibility and response.
Like Brannen-Cooper® Headjoints, Lafin Headjoints share the influence of Albert Cooper. While Brannen-Cooper® headjoints stem from Cooper’s research and designs, J. Rainer Lafin collaborated with Cooper to develop his own signature style. Over time, Mr. Lafin has continued to refine his designs, frequently experimenting with new ideas to enhance playability and optimize tonal qualities.
